the distant hum that blooms as we run

Memoryhouse - Caregiver
Deeply affecting piano-based song, at once full of grandeur and excruciatingly intimate with surrealistic vocals that speak of ghosts and cracked spools. It is because of songs like that that I ache to be able to create such amazing music, yet I know I have no talent for such. I'm pretty sure even the most undiscerning ear can appreciate this precious gem.

Wolf Gang - Lions in Cages
Good song but I don't feel it as much as The King and All of His Men. I think it's really awesome and super catchy now, it's grown on me!

Wolf Gang - Back to Back
Curiously different from the kooky catchy The King and All of His Men, it presents a more mellow and emotional side of Mr McElligott, who seems to wear his heart on his sleeve in this number, as he hits an extended falsetto crooning "sleeping with my back to yours, back to back, back to back were strung out". Interesting stuff, keep a look out for his new album next year - "Suego Faults".

The Vaccines - Blow It Up
Oh my, what awesome guitar skimming riffs that just ooze 80s rock.

Blow, blow, blow it up - this might just be the birth of a new rock band. Warbly guitars and hazy reverbs abound, they are certainly making known their arrival.

The Saturday Mix #34

The Temper Trap - Fader
Third single of their album "Conditions", and riding on the success of Sweet Disposition and Science of Fear, I think they decided to release this. Personally, it's not bad, good rock stuff with pretty solid riffs, but nothing spectacular - the previous two were definitely better.

The Temper Trap - Fader (Adam Freeland Remix)
Nice electro twist to this song, but at certain points, it becomes a bit of an overkill.

Phoenix - Fences (Delphic Remix)
Danceable remix by Mancunians Delphic, but a tad too long don't you think? But I doubt that when you're high on booze (and maybe drugs), you'd really be nitpicking about the length of the song.

The Raveonettes - Last Dance (Kap10kurt Dream Mix)
Nice and groovvvvy. This remix is tight, and adds more bounce to an already bouncey track. There's a Sound of Arrows feel don't you think so? Collab please!

Delphic - Doubt (MXWL Remix)
Pretty decent dubstep remix, but not the rock-your-socks-and-clothes-off-and-I-need-to-get-moving-right-now kind.

Wolf Gang - The King and All His Men (Joe Goddard Remix)

Miike Snow - Silvia (Sinden Remix)
Wow, finally Silvia gets it's turn at a remix. From total electro-ballad to dance-floor dope.

won't you take me to the queen of hearts

Fuck Buttons - The Lisbon Maru
Hell, I didn't know what the song title means, but a simple wiki turned this up. Lisbon Maru was a Japanese freighter which was used as a troopship and prisoner-of-war transport between China and Japan. I don't know whether it was drawn from this, but this song has awesome bass. I feel fantastic just listening to it.

Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar
Well, as one user put it, fookin choooon mate!!

choon:

A song or any piece of music to which an individual assigns the highest level of merit but most usually an exclamation upon hearing the song in public.

"Bohemian Rhapsody! CHOON!"

Wolf Gang - The King And All Of His Men
This is all I can glean on him. Wolf Gang is the stage name of Max McElligott from London, UK, son of a historian and a violinist and former student at the prestigious London School of Economics. Many say he sounds like Mika, and I won't deny he sounds like the Mika from "Life In Cartoon Motion".

autoKratz - Always More
Oh my. The synths are out of this world. It feels so surreal. autoKratz are a London based electronic duo comprising of David Cox and Russell Crank. This is definitely for the dancefloor - get it down. I love duos, somehow it's just two people making things work - a symphony of two. In this post alone, it's autoKratz and Fuck Buttons. There's also Handsome Furs, The Big Pink, Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp, Crystal Castles and Air France to name a few.
