The Saturday Mix #1
The Broken West - Perfect Games
O+S - Lonely Ghosts
White Lies - Love Lockdown (Kanye West Cover)
Glasvegas - Geraldine
White Lies - E.S.T
Turin Brakes - Dark on Fire
Thriving Ivory - Angels on the Moon
enjoy. especially the White Lies cover of love lockdown. different take on the song, and in my opinion, sounds better. also, i totally love how the scottish accent of James Allan, which is pretty audible, sounds in most of Glasvegas' songs.

Shearwater - The Snow Leopard
hauntingly beautiful introduction to the song, credits to Jonathan Meiburg who provides the vocals. it makes you feel empty yet full? i could just lie back and let this song wash over me, like the incoming tide rushing upon the beach and receding gently.
the way is to climb
the way is to lie still
and let the moon do its work on your body
Shearwater - Leviathan, Bound
yet another emotive song, it seems as if the melodies are reaching into the crevices of your body, resonating very gently through you.
it's really hard to describe their kind of sound (once you listen you'll find that it is pretty much different) and my words may not do justice to their songs. so it's best if you listen to the songs for yourself. an awesome band with a good outing at experimenting with a unique but wonderful sound that grows on you the more you listen to them.

oh valerie plame
this is a really funny song and it could prolly lift your mood somewhat on a lousy day.
The Decemberists - Valerie Plame
the beat is pretty jaunty, and if not for the real life circumstances surrounding the eponymous character, one would wonder where they really derived the random lyric content from. for the uninformed, Valerie Plame is an ex CIA agent whose identity was revealed in a newspaper column, and as result had to resign. correct me if i'm wrong, or if anybody is remotely interested in who she is, you can just google her. if not, just enjoy the lyrics.

don't falter.
pretty lazy day, and i'll leave you guys with some songs.
Broken Social Scene - Anthems of a Seventeen Year-Old Girl
really trippy song with some synth in it. awfully repetitive, and really simple, but it's really awesome, and i don't get tired listening to it.
Love Grenades - Tigers in the Fire
it's their myspace site and just click on the song and let it roll.
Röyksopp - Vision One
"Everybody let us say goodbye to all, our emotions.
'Cause there's nothing left to say that we're humane, when we're left behind"
you don't know what you're missing if you haven't heard of this electronic duo from Norway. more on them soon.

ok, decided to start a music blog.
first off, i'm so damn frustrated that i forgot all my html and now i've got no idea how to edit the template on my own. ugh.
secondly, as a result of the first point, the blog looks WAY too minimalist.
to start off, Bon Iver is essentially a one man outfit, founded by Justin Vernon. For Emma, Forever Ago was it's debut album, self-released in 2007 and subsequently released by Jagjaguwar in 2008. While made up of mostly acoustic songs, one should not take this lightly but indulge in the melancholy and nakedness of these songs. The almost title track, For Emma starts off with an intro that tingles ever so slightly, the entire song is aural plesantry that makes you crave for more and you definitely won't be disappointed. With songs like Re: Stacks and Flume, this is one album you shouldn't be missing out on and has seen regular time on most of my current playlists.
For Emma, Forever Ago is one fantastic album. Absolutely beautiful music from justin, it is totally something you'd turn on while lazing around at home. Actually, I could listen to this anywhere, over and over again.
